Service Manager (Agriculture Industry)
This individual will efficiently manage, coordinate and schedule Field Service Technician’s time, while maintaining the invoicing of work orders in a timely manner. In conjunction with this, they will communicate with the customer in regard to quotes, job status and scheduling. They will also coordinate activities and cooperate with other departments of the dealership to best serve the needs of the customer and employees.
Role Overview:
• Lead, motivate, manage, and evaluate the service team.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient service operations.
• Coordinate and schedule Field Service Technicians, manage work orders, and communicate with customers about quotes, job status, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with other departments to meet customer and employee needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate and timely service department reports.
• Support the work order process, ensuring proper posting and timely closure of charges.
• Handle warranty and product improvement claims professionally.
• Maintain service department files and records.
• Update customer profiles with relevant information from work orders.
• Stay updated on technical and product knowledge for all dealership equipment.
• Assign jobs to Service Technicians based on their skills.
• Seek customer feedback, anticipate problems, and respond promptly.
• Review repair work orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct and schedule in-house Service Technician training.
• Appraise repair work entering the service department.
• Keep the Operations Manager informed of customer complaints.
• Regularly review department performance with the Operations Manager.
• Manage field and shop service technician time.
• Coach and mentor service department employees on efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure adherence to dealership policies and procedures.
• Schedule and manage all service work and assignments.
• Review and sign off on technician timecards.
• Ensure timely and profitable work order charges.
• Process warranty claims and monitor the warranty sub-ledger.
• Manage and maintain company property, including shop, equipment, and vehicles.
• Perform annual performance reviews for service department employees.
• Create and monitor annual service department benchmarks and budget.
• Review receivables monthly and establish collection plans.
• Facilitate effective communication within the location through meetings and feedback.
• Foster a positive work environment, encouraging accountability and teamwork.
• Ensure a positive customer experience and build long-term customer relationships.
• Maintain the company’s reputation and image in the community.
• Manage physical and financial resources, and oversee hiring, training, and evaluation of staff.
• Implement and improve safe business practices and processes.
• Facilitate or participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Participate in company-sponsored training to advance skills.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements
• Previous supervisory/management experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of service process and procedures
• General understanding of mechanical/technical terms (preferred)
• Strong knowledge related to diesel or Ag technology (preferred)
• College degree preferred

• Location: 7642 Highway 15, Carleton Place, ON {Some travel to the Pembroke, ON location}
• Expected Start Date: 2024-10-01
• Job Type: Full-Time (In person)
• Pay: $26.00 to $32.00 per hour (growth bonus potential)
• Expected Hours: 40 per week (Monday to Friday)
• Education: High School Diploma or GED an asset
• Shift and Schedule:
o Monday to Friday (Mornings)
• Benefits: Extended Health Care, On-site Parking, Vision Care
• Physical ability: Capable of lifting and moving packages up to 50 lbs daily.
• Flexible Language Requirements: French considered an asset
